Parking

Parking is easy to find at the conveniently located Minneapolis Convention Center. In addition to metered parking, there is a wide selection of off-street parking to choose from within easy walking distance - most of these are parking ramps that are connected to the Minneapolis Convention Center by skyway.


3rd AVENUE PARKING RAMP:

Parking is available on 3rd Avenue directly east of the Minneapolis Convention Center.

  • Receipt Info: If you need of a receipt from a recent 3rd Avenue Ramp parking stay, email us at MCCRampPCI@minneapolismn.gov. Please include the type of card that was used for the transaction; Visa, American Express or Mastercard, and the last four digits on the card.
  • Security: The 3rd Avenue Ramp is patrolled by MCC security officers and is under camera surveillance. The MCC Command Center provides parking ramp escorts upon request. Please call 612-335-6040 for assistance or press one of the intercom buttons located throughout the parking ramp.
  • Towing, Lockouts, Jump Starts: Please call Bobby & Steve's Auto World at 612-377-4743 for towing, jump starts, lockouts, or any other emergency vehicle service.


PLAZA PARKING:

Across the street from the Minneapolis Convention Center, on 2nd Avenue South, is an underground ramp that is connected by a climate-controlled skyway system to the Minneapolis Convention Center and several downtown accommodations and attractions.

From the West (I-394)

    • Take I-394 east
    • Take Exit 9A for 12th Street North
    • Turn Right onto N. 12th St.
    • Turn Right onto 2nd Ave. S.

From the East (I-94)

    • Take I-94 west
    • Take exit 233A for 11th Street
    • Use left lane to continue onto S. 11th Street

From the South (I-35W)

    • Take I-35W north
    • Keep left at the fork to continue onto MN-65, follow signs for Downtown/I-94 W
    • Take the 11th Street exit
    • Use left lane to continue onto S. 11th Street
    • Turn left onto 2nd Ave. S.
    • Cross 12th St. S.

From the North (I-35W)

    • Take I-35W south
    • Take exit 17B to merge onto I-94 west
    • Take exit 233A for 11th Street

    • Slight right onto Glumack Dr.
    • Keep left at the for and merge onto MN-5 E
    • Use the right lane to take the MN-55 W/MN-55 E exit toward Minneapolis For Snelling/Hastings
    • Use the right lane to keep left at the fork, follow signs for MN-55 W and merge onto MN-55 W/MN-62 W
    • Exit onto MN-55 W/Hwy 55 W/Hiawatha Ave.
    • Turn right to merge onto I-94 west
    • Take exit 233A for 11th Street
    • Use left lane to continue onto S. 11th Street

    • Head east toward E 72nd St.
    • Turn left onto 34th Ave. S.
    • Keep right to stay on 34th Ave. S.
    • Turn right at the 1st cross street onto E. 70th St.
    • Continue onto Post Rd.
    • Turn left to merge onto MN-5 E
    • Merge onto MN-5 E
    • Use the right lane to stay on MN-5 E
    • Use the right lane to take the MN-55 W/MN-55 E exit toward Minneapolis For Snelling/Hastings
    • Use the right lane to keep left at the fork, follow signs for MN-55 W and merge onto MN-55 W/MN-62 W

By Bus

Metro Transit Trip Planner Buses and taxis are readily available at the MCC, the airport, Mall of America and at most hotels. Use Metro Transit's Trip Planner for easy door-to-door directions for buses and light-rail trains.

Take a "Free Ride" on the Bus

Free bus rides are available on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis and to and from the Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC). This gives you an easy way to go from one end of town to the other – for free! The free service on selected routes between Grant Street and Washington Avenue is offered on buses marked "Free Ride." Other buses on Nicollet – and all within the Downtown Zone – charge 50¢. Free-ride buses leave every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 15 to 30 minutes on weekends. Buses on Nicollet stop every other block between 5th and 13th Streets.

Make A Day of It

Get a day’s worth of unlimited rides on buses and light rail with a Metro Transit Day Pass. They’re available at the Visitor Information Center at the MCC during regular hours.

Consistently ranked as one of the top bike cities in the country, Minneapolis boasts a complex network of bike paths and individual trails. Rain or shine, this city is adamant about its biking. 



By Foot

One of Minneapolis' most unique assets is the skyway system. Linking most of downtown with above-ground climate-controlled walkways, the system will get you from the Minneapolis Convention Center to most spots in downtown Minneapolis without ever stepping outside.
