MN DEED: Small Business Emergency Loan

The emergency loan program will help Minnesota small business owners who need immediate assistance to meet their families’ basic needs during COVID-19 closures.


SBA: Small Business Administration Coronavirus Relief Options

In addition to traditional SBA funding programs, the CARES Act established several new temporary programs to address the COVID-19 outbreak.


Minneapolis Gap Funds for Small Businesses

Includes a new Small Business Debt-free Fund for companies with 20 employees or less and people who are self-employed and no-interest loans for small businesses

  • Hennepin County Workforce Resources: most resources are currently available at the state level

  • Weekly Minneapolis Small Businesses Call: every Friday at 11 a.m. | members from the Police, Small Business Team, Economic Policy and Development, Labor Standards, Business Development, Mayors Office are on the call
  • #TooLocalToFail: A coalition formed by business and trade associations, as well as owners and operators, from across the region to work on issues that are affecting operations and employees
  • Small Business Administration Loan: the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest federal disaster loans and up to $10,000 advance for working capital to small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19)
  • FAQs for Business: starting point for all businesses including sick time clarification, how to set up take out zones, license fee information and more 


  • Food Pick Up Zones: Public Works is accepting requests from businesses who would like to establish a temporary ‘Food Pick Up Zone’ 
  • James Beard Foundation Relief Fund: newly formed and can sign up for details as they become available
  • Facebook Grants: Facebook is offering $100M in cash grants and ad credits for up to 30,000 eligible small businesses in over 30 countries where we operate. We’ll share more details as they become available
  • ServSafe: Offering free courses and resources, including two new free training videos on COVID-19 Precautions for Takeout and Delivery
